The players have realized that Aloy was using a series of new tools in the Gameplay Shown Horizon Forbidden West. While the fundamental principles that caused the first delivery so successful are still there, many new ways have also been added to move through the vast world of West Prohibited, in one of the most expected PS5 games.
Players will be able to climb to more types of machines and grab on hook points all over the environment to facilitate vertical path in adventure. Also, since we knew, Aloy can dive, thus opening a new territory to explore.
All this will contribute to much more freedom along Aloy s trip, as says David McCullen, designer of Senior Guerrilla Systems:
Our decisions about the design of crossing the world have always had to offer the player a dynamic interactivity with the surrounding environment. [...] the most exciting thing for us is to see how our mechanics, both old and new, interact with each other to offer different dynamic approaches to any type of scenario.
new gadgets.
Horizon Forbidden West will arrive for PS4 and PS5. But the mechanics of the game does a lot of use of the dualsense with, for example, vibration by pushing a box or a feeling of unrolling when the attachment is used. It has also been added a tactile dimension to improve the gameplay, which will bring sensations such as the whisper of the grass or the pop of your bending bow.
Unlike the first game, the free climbing system now allows you to reach large land extensions that were previously inaccessible. These rock surfaces can be climbed without handles. A height jump mechanics was also implemented, which allows Aloy to climb the top of any object high enough.
In the same line, two new features have been introduced. Aloy will greatly win in mobility, either in the exploration or combat phases. The attractor is a mechanical device attached to the wrist that allows players to climb easily, but it also serves as a winch. The other addition, not only allows you to descend in a stimulating way of climbing, but also enjoying incredible views.
The Senior Combat Designer Dennis Zopfi explains how the team developed the key features of Horizon Forbidden West, including the novelty of the workbench:
The Workbench is a completely new concept of Horizon Forbidden West. It allows players to update and update their weapons and outfit. This allows them to unlock new benefits and mods slots, as well as get access to more personalization options, Resistance and new skills.
new weapons
Weapons and tools have been redesigned to adapt to the dangerousness of the forbidden West. The developers wanted the body-to-body and distance combat more synergistic. The resonator breath is a good example of this will to combine the archery skills of Aloy with a beat of grace. Charges the spear using melee attacks, and when it is enhanced to the maximum, the accumulated energy can be placed on the enemies before a projectile is launched and generated a large explosion.
There are 12 in total, and each of them represents a specific approach to the game. They can be unlocked and updated through the skill tree, with skill points. Each burst has three levels: the higher your level, the more time it takes to load the attack, but more powerful is.
You also have to take into account that enemies can now mount the machines. Then, players must closely monitor the machines, but also their pilots. All this presents a great challenge for players, since now machines and humans can fight together.
Developers want to give arms a more striking personality in this new work. Thus, each weapon will have its strengths and weaknesses in function of the situation in which it is used. For example, the peak pitcher is a newly dangerous new weapon that, when launched at the right time, can achieve large targets. Some weapons should also be updated before they can be used.
Therefore, it is understandable that the freedom and choice of players have been in the heart of the development of Horizon Forbidden West. This should offer more free and dynamic gameplay, with also a lot of new features more or less subtle but impressive.
We remind you that the continuation of Aloy s adventures, the Launch Date of Horizon Forbidden West is next February 18 in PS4 and PS5.
